Where else would you rather be,
than right here, right now?
Here is one chapter of my upbringing and current community.
My family lived in Kenmore (Buffalo) followed by Rochester, New York during my childhood. I inherited my love and passion for Buffalo sports from my grandparents. As a child, I had no foresight into how cheering for our hometown Buffalo Bills team would become such an identity and broader community later on in life. I cheered and cried during the early 90s Super Bowl runs, endured years of the drought and continue to cheer during the current 2020s era.
I remember watching Super Bowl XXV (25) in 1991, and although I fell asleep during the 4th quarter, I clearly remember being woken up by my parents to witness the last minute, and crying myself to sleep that night. I also lost a friendly wager with a classmate and had to write one full page of the dictionary as a result.
Nowadays, as I raise my own children, I dream about the elusive Super Bowl victory. On any given day during the year, I feel goosebumps daydreaming of the scenario. I think about where will I be, I think of my now-deceased grandparents and I think about all the other Buffalo fans around the world.
And of course, I hope that the above section will need to be rewritten in February 2026.
Let’s Go Buffalo!
